Topic: Taxonomy and conservation of Asian Lauraceae
Abstract:
The Lauraceae belong to the Laurales of primitive angiosperms. Plants of the family are mostly tall trees and occupy canopy of tropical/subtropical forests. These trees are well-known for their economic uses, e.g. fruits, spices, excellent wood, and oil etc. However, their taxonomy is notorious. I will give a few cases on taxonomy and conservation of Asian Lauraceae according to my research.
