Dr. Kanchi Gandhi is an expert on scientific plant names. As the Herbaria's Senior Nomenclature Registrar, he is the source of a wealth of knowledge for staff both old and new, helping to ensure everyone is following the rules on naming plants. As the Arnold Arboretum's Michael Dossman puts it, Kanchi's job is "not only ensuring that newly discovered plants are named properly, but also serving as something of a global taxonomic cop tossing out names that don’t follow guidelines, sending botanists flush with the excitement of new discovery back to the keyboard for another try."
