Gustavo A. Romero has been at HUH since July 1988. His primary task is the curation of the Oakes Ames Orchid Herbarium, but he also participates in other herbarium projects (photographic documentation of herbarium specimens, Botany Library Committee, and editing Harvard Papers in Botany). He currently conducts research on the Orchidaceae of northern South America and the biological basis for the long-term management of Neotropical non-timber forest products.
