Rediscovering North America's Forgotten Fossil Forests

November 17, 2023

The Harvard University Herbaria are part of an exciting new interdisciplinary project "Rediscovering North America's Forgotten Fossil Forests and Inspiring the Next Generation of Paleobotanists". The project involves collaboration with National Geographic explorers, paleobotanists, educators, and citizen scientists, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, and the Florida Museum of Natural History and runs through April 2025. Earlier this fall, we were happy to welcome some of our partners to the Paleobotanical collections here at the HUH. Our collections includes about 60,000 specimens and is the second largest repository for fossil plants in the United States.
